    Documents and Downloads icons reversed

    Documents and Downloads icons reversed-dlswaped.jpg

I have been having a time today trying to recover from a mistake I made. I got a new SSD drive and cloned my C: drive to it and then wanted to move my Download and Documents folders to the Old C: drive which is now the D: drive. The mistake I made was to put both locations to D:\ thinking that it would add Documents and Download directories automatically. Anyway, I used other things within the forum but have now ended up with the above situation. The icon for Documents is the Download icon and the icon for the Download folder is the Documents icon. If I click on Documents, it does indeed take me to Documents, same for Download. The Icons on the folders is the issue.

I did also make changes to the registery in the following location:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

Hello Gritten, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you like, you could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore the default location of your "Documents" and "Downloads" folder to restore them back to default.

Afterwards, you should be able to move them how you wanted.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did run those batch files when trying to correct the original mistake. Are you saying that I should run them again?

The links currently take me to the correct location. The issue is that the Download link, has the Document icon and the Document link, has the Download icon. I just need to switch the icons.

    Thanks,

No need to run them again then. I just wanted to make sure you had them set back to default.

Since it's only the icon that is the issue, you might see if rebuilding the icon cache and thumbnail cache may help.

Ok, neither of those fixed the issue. Could I have gotten things bss ackwards in the registery? I have a Screen Shot of it above. Could I have the Download and Document folders reversed?

In that case, you can download and merge the .reg file below to restore the default icons for the Downloads and Documents folder in This PC. You may need to restart the computer afterwards to apply.

    Default_Documents_and_Downloads_icons_in_This_PC.reg

Contents of the .reg file for reference.

    Code:
