That's rather what I expected somehow.
Now work the problem - process of elimination.

    a. Is it the LAN somehow?
Disconnect your PC from the LAN
    Boot to normal mode
What happens? If all ok, related to using the LAN somehow.

    b. Is it a 3rd party program?
    Clean boot.
What happens? If all ok progressively enable startups until problem recurs.

    c. Is it a shell extension?
    Download and run Shellexview (free).
Hide all MS extesnsions. Disable all others.
Ok? If so, progressively enable extensions until problem recurs.

    Etc.

Hi Thanks again for the great information

1 I disconnected my LAN and the problem was still there so its not the LAN

2 I looked at all the programs i had installed recently and uninstalled them, and i still had the problem

3 So i downloaded Shellexview V1.97 and as you said i hid all MS extensions and disabled the others and now the problem has gone away

Ive just got to add then until i find the culprit

Just one more question please its says in Shellexview options to mark suspicious extensions i have that selected but none are marked, and if some extensions are disabled with the parent program now not run

    Thanks again

I wouldn't worry about 'suspicious' particularly.
From Nirsoft's changelog on the program:
Changed the definition of 'Suspicious Shell Extensions' - In previous versions, Every shell extension with read-only attribute marked as Suspicious, which confused some users, because there are many legitimated shell extensions that set a read-only attribute, probably to protect them from delete by the user. However, if a shell extension has an hidden attribute, it'll still be marked as suspicious.

New option: Mark Suspicious Shell Extensions - mark in red color shell extensions with unusual file attribues (hidden attribue) or with unusual file extensions.
