I had windows 10 pro on a dell latitude laptop that I upgraded during the free period. the main board let the smoke out of it, so I got a Lenovo edge with an i5 2.67 processor a 256 ssd and 4 gb of ram. had to reinstall the operating system and didn't want windows 7 so used the disk I had for windows 10 pro... it didn't want to activate, so I contacted Microsoft support via online chat explained that I had a digital license for widows 10 pro on my laptop that self destructed and they had me give them the windows 7 product key from this laptop tht was windows 7 pro and they remotely activated widows 10 pro for me for free.

Pretty disappointed so far in General Support
A disclaimer: I never liked Windows 7, or Vista, or XP. I used them, but never enjoyed the experience. Windows Phone and Windows 8, and then 8.1 are the first OS Microsoft ever made that I liked. I fact I loved 8/8.1. I installed the Windows 10...
