Returned the ASUS and purchased a Dell

I was not happy with the ASUS so I returned it and purchased myself a Dell. I am also saving money this way because I was paying monthly for the ASUS which would end up costing me $1,000 once its finally paid for. The ASUS wasn't even worth $1,000. I purchased the Dell out right from Dell's website. But can someone tell me about Dell? It's a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series. Is the RAM upgradable on it? It only has 4 GB of RAM installed out of the box. It should be here this week or next week.

    Thanks! :)

What is the exact 3000 series model. I was going to link you to the Dell documentation for the specific model, but can't.
Here is the support site and you can access the info for the specific model (this is where you get driver updates, too)

Dell also has a user help forum, with users familiar with Dell products.

See this Tom's Hardware/Laptops story on upgrading RAM in the 3552. Looks like max memory capacity therein is 4 GB: Max RAM Capacity for Dell 15-3552 [Solved] - Laptops - Laptop Tech Support.

It's only got 1 memory slot, according to one site the maximum is 8GB which means replacing the 4GB.

Well, I can replace the 4GB module with an 8GB module. But will it affect anything with the computer?

According to the Published Dell Spec's, max is 4GB in this model.
Here is a screenshot of the memory spec's:

If the max memory is really only 4GB, does it even have a 64 bit OS? I haven't seen a relatively modern system that can only take 4GB of RAM.

Yes. It is a 64-bit OS.

I put the make and model in at Crucial.com - DRAM, solid state drive (SSD) memory upgrades for Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS to get what it supports, have had only 1 problem since the late '90s and that was only because a Dell Dimension 2350 wasn't exactly like the Dell Dimension 2300 Series, free cross-shipment replacement was correct and speedy.

Some Notebooks/Laptops have only 1 User/Consumer accessible memory slot but may have another on the other side of the motherboard which can be reached only by a complete disassemble of the machine.
