So if I upgrade the RAM to 8GB, it will mess it up?

It will not mess it up, but unsure if the mobo will support it.

Your model supports 4GB. What do you want to put 8GB in it for?

It won't explode or anything - most likely will just not boot.

Both Dell and Crucial say it takes 4GB - I'd stick to that. Dell made it and Crucial are always very reliable.

You would waste the money buying incompatible RAM or more than it supports that is all.

I need it for my photography. My Toshiba supports it and it has a weaker processor than this Dell does. I don't understand why Dell won't support an 8GB module while Toshiba will. The Dell has a faster processor.

If you want a PC that supports 8GB then buy one that does.

You can't just stick 8GB in a PC because you want to.

Also... the Dell has a Quad Core processor supposedly while the Toshiba has a Dual Core processor.
