I have had good luck with Dells. Used them at home and at work. My kids have Inspiron laptop, I have a precision laptop for work. Always use Dell monitors. Support has been great for me.

I will concede that Dell monitors are an exception to my post.

Well, I contacted Dell about what's been going on with mine. They did a remote session and did some updates to the touchpad as well as a BIOS update to try to correct the problem. They told me to keep and eye out on it and if it keeps doing it, then let them know in an email that they sent me. However, I am from the South. The South as in Alabama which is where I was born and raised. Most of us southerners would prefer not to talk to someone we don't understand clearly. My accent is very proper but I do have a southern accent as well and yes my vocabulary/typing/texting skills are very proper as well.

Jesse, if you just bought it and it`s giving you problems then don`t fool with it, return it.

We`ve been all over this type of stuff with you on Seven Forums.

I personally would have gotten an HP, Dell laptops are garbage, I don`t care what Sheldon Cooper says

You have got to do your homework and research before you go out and buy a low grade piece of junk that you`ll never be happy with, you shouldn`t settle for anything less then an i5.

    And 1 memory slot ? That`s ridiculous.

I disagree that Dell laptops are garbage. I am sure some of the low end models aren't great, I think the same argument could be made about any vendor. I've carried Dell Latitudes for years and they have proven reliable and durable. There is a reason many employers use them. Inspirons aren't nearly as durable, but they are a lot less expensive.

Having worked on laptops for years, I absolutely hated working on HPs. Fans buried under the mobos.

You`re right, every model has it`s issues, and yes there are tons of Dell`s in the work field.

But he should not be having any issues with a new one, if he does, return it.

Jesse suffers from Autism and really doesn`t comprehend this type of stuff so well.

Here`s an example of what you could pay for an HP with an i5 and 8 GB of memory.

I`m pretty sure he knows how to install an Operating System, so someday soon he could yank that 5400 rpm heater and install an ssd and he`d be set for a long time.

You're right. I do have Autism (Asperger's Syndrome). However I do know some about computers, but when I run into a snag that is when I come here. As far as returning the computer, I would have to talk to my Stepfather as he is the one who purchased it for me. I looked at some HP's, but the batteries were gone in them. That's what steered me away from them. They were used however. The used Dell I found is the only one that would turn on. My Dell wasn't used though. It was new outside of the box as I ordered it from Dell. But I read somewhere where Dell was above ASUS and below Apple in terms of customer reviews when it comes to customer support.

Well the HP I linked was brand new from Bestbuy, where were you looking at laptops without a battery ? Goodwill ?

What are the specs of the Dell ?

Or better yet just post the exact Dell link of the laptop you got.

With the batteries being gone, I meant that they needed to be replaced. Because the computer wouldn't turn on at all. They were at a local pawn shop in town. One second while I get the link for this computer.
