    Scanning and Repairing Drive Stuck!

    Hi,

My PC has been Scanning and repairing my drive for the past 24 hours and it is stuck at 14%. This is the second time that I waited the next day for it to complete, but it stays at 14%. In that instance, I just hard reboot the machine and then I skip the disk check / repair status by hitting on a key.

I am running this because the win UI disk check states there are errors. In fact, I seem to have a shadowcopy of previous files on my hard drive, but I am unable to retrieve them using the Previous Files Versions. That field is back and it states No Previous File Versions. The restore dates did show for about 72 hrs under a //localhost ghost drive after I right clicked on the folder and chose to open a file history from a prior date. However, that //localhost connection was suddenly just gone and I can no longer find it. My hard drive space still shows over 200 GB of data taken up. This was under one particular folder which again, I am no longer able to view with the Previous Files Version option.

I read a previous post on this forum where someone had a similar option and most replies stated they just had to be patient. I am just not sure how it's reasonable or this to go on over 24hr on a 1 TB drive. That seems unusually too long.

    Please advise.

Welcom to the forum. The best way is to boot from install dvd goto cmd prompt only then type chkdsk c: /r it often work quicker as its not running windows or you could go to makers site and download their bootable disk test. If it takes a long time it suggests a disk fault. There are two types of fault a disk structure which can be fixed quick or a hard ware disk fault which may take a long time if there are bad blocks
