Some of those "system resumed" events are misleading

    The system is entering sleep.

Sleep Reason: Button or Lid (Time shown as 17:06:15)

    Then:

The system has resumed from sleep (Time shown as 17:06:16, same time as the changed time noted above)

    Any help?
I was puzzling over this myself - the fact that the system appears always to wake back up from suspend/hibernation straight after it goes to sleep, despite the fact that it doesn't seem actually to have done that.
Today I finally twigged. The "wake from sleep" event is generated when you wake the computer, but when the event is generated, the clock is still set to the time it was at when the computer went to sleep, so it appears to have happened just one second after the sleep event. The very next thing Windows does is synchronise the clock. So it's just an artefact of the clock being incorrectly set.

Well spotted. I'd never noticed that before, but I've just look at my Event Log and you are spot on. The events to look for in the System log are:

Event ID 42, Kernel-Power (entering sleep)
Event ID 107, Kernel-Power (resuming from sleep)
Event ID 1, Kernel-General (system time has changed)
