Asus makes some nice machines but the AIO I purchased from Best Buy was extremely buggy with Wi-Fi and the mouse/keyboard connections, it also locked up regularly. Support was useless and they wanted me to send it back to them on my own dime for warranty work so I returned it and ordered a Lenovo AIO that came standard with a one year onsite warranty. It has none of the problems the Asus had, in fact no problems at all. I was also able to upgrade to a SSD which I didn't think I needed but now that I use one I would never go back.

    Just my experience.

For last four years, I am using this laptop from ASUS. Fine.

devices and components are as good as whatever manufacturer. most of the time biggest difference that people should taken care of is the warranty and procedures that the manufacturers has

ive used asus products years without any problems, however as ive been working years also in IT-industry, asus warranty policies and RMAs and the system behind it might not be as adjustable and flexible as others has :)

gladly ive had only few cases for customers where i had to contact asus and do some warranty stuff, and despite the long action-time for it, they fixed it very well so.

If 500-600 is still your price point, here's an ASUS with twice the RAM, twice the hard drive capacity and a 17" display for the same price as the ASUS you're looking at - https://www.walmart.com/ip/17-N3700-...B-W10/49861926

I have been using Asus products for years, mostly Motherboards, Graphic cards, Monitors and a few Lappy's.
I have had few issues with any and when I did, I had no issue with normal RMA and / or crosship RMA.
However, the support procedure for RMA has changed since years ago.
I really do like their motherboards and graphics cards.

The company that I am looking at getting the computer through lets you do payments on them. That's the cheaper route for us. So no, I am not paying outright for it. They do have a Dell there that has a faster processor than the ASUS.

Can someone tell me about ASUS?

The ASUS has a 1.7 Ghz processor while the Dell there has a 2 something Ghz processor. Does the make a difference in speed and would it be better to get the Dell?

??? I had to ship my daughter's laptop to ASUS for warranty repairs. She had it back in 7 or 8 days. Asus actually had the laptop 2 days and shipped it on the third day after they received it.

I read last night where Dell and ASUS were the 2 most top rated computer brands for 2016. The only major brand that beat them was Apple. I don't want an Apple computer. I am a Microsoft Windows guy. But it was Apple, Dell, and then ASUS. They were at the top of the list.

Asus and Dell are both fine. I am a windows guy and a linux guy. And my laptop is a 2013 macbook pro. So, you can say I support them all.

I would not get a 17" monitor if you are going to carry the laptop around with you. It's too big and bulky. I prefer a 13-14", tops. If I need a bigger monitor at home, I will connect an external display.
