    Dell Inspiron ...periodic freezing

This laptop freezes often and Event Vwr isn't telling me anything. What is a good way to troubleshoot these freezes so that I can attempt a fix? Is there an app that can run in the background to monitor?

I'm using Windows 10 with the latest updates.

Hi. Having looked at your laptop's specifications here, I note that the hardware is generally fairly old. The particular bottleneck here is the hard drive. It's a 5400rpm variety which is rather slow these days.

Some laptops make it fairly easy to swap out the hard drive for a newer faster one such as an SSD so you need to check the back of yours and do some research to see how easy it might be to replace. Doing this upgrade would be the single best improvement you could do.

I'm not on the Satellite. This is regarding the Inspiron. What other options might I have (acknowledging that a hard drive upgrade would help)?

First off can you recreate the freeze with some certainty? If so what to do have running and what activity seems to bring it on.

While not a fix do you know if your BIOS is as recent as it could be?

On average when you are just doing your norm, ally thing on the laptop how utilized is your CPU and memory?

How much physical memory is installed in device?

What AV are you running and are you running more than one? (include all "Safety" products)

Have you reviewed your Startup tab in task manager and do you need everything? Wouldn't necessarily shut things off but lots of times the list is full of "wants" rather than than "needs"

    Have you defragged your disk?

I cannot, unfortunately, seem to recreate it with any certainty. I "suspect" it could be when videos are running. I often have a window open that has the news or other streaming content.

I'll look for an update today.

    CPU - 20-35%
    Memory - 60-65%

How much physical memory is installed in device?

    4gb

What AV are you running and are you running more than one? (include all "Safety" products)

    Defender only

I have this laptop barebones (in terms of startup items)

    Have you defragged your disk?

    Doing that now
