Upgrading windows Technical preview from 10130 to 10158

Will the updates install new version or I have to download version 10158 and reinstall it?

I believe 10158 is no longer available for DL you will need to upgrade to 10159.

Mine updated from 10130 to 10158 via windows update last night, the entire process took about an hour, maybe a little longer.

I am dual booting W7 and W10 on the same SSD, used Partition Wizard to create a 30G partition for W10 and clean installed 10130 after the iso was available. I had earlier builds of W10 on a VM and didn't like it much, seemed slow and sometimes choppy, it's much better on a dual boot.

The dual boot works well, the update to 10158 went fine with no problems.

Some other posters mentioned updating to the next build of W10 on a dual boot setup affected their boot, I didn't have any problems. Well it did change the default OS from W7 to W10 but other than that nothing of note. It's easy enough to change back if I want so that's not really a problem.

    Thanks.
Was Your update from 130 to 158 was automatic?
Is your system is based on UEFI or BIOS based?
I am having win10 tp in VB. Settings|windows update shows it is update until the present time. But Desktop shows only 10130.
    How to go?

It came through windows update, I booted into W10 and checked for updates. There were a couple others including Windows Defender definitions update that went first, then build 10158.

    BIOS

I'm not sure about how things look in VB, are you on the fast ring? Check advanced settings on the update to see how you get TP updates, if it's set on slow and you want updates as soon as they come out then change it to fast, reboot and check for updates again.

    Thanks for the info.
I saw it was slow option in update|advanced. I changed it to fast and restarted and checked for updates. Still it shows your device is up to date. May be I have to wait for a day as it says it may take up to a day to detect new updates after settings changes..
I have my location as India. Whether that will have an effect?

    Thanks for your nice tutorial.
    In step 3
item1) defer updates is unchecked as you suggested.
item2) stop insider builds option is missing. in my laptop 10130 build it says preview builds are on.
    item3)I have selected fast

after this I tried step four. But it still says update is up to date.
I did restart win10 tp and then also it says as above.
it also has line in advanced "it may take up to a day to detect new updates after settings changes"
May be I have to wait for a day and see.

After date change, I could update to 10159.
