Confirmed. Windows closed with Exit (upper left) or the red X (upper right) retain their last positions in build 10565.
On build 10565 now, and whilst it does remember window position when maximizing and un-maximizing a window, for me it is still jumping/cascading to the right slightly when i position a window, close it, then reopen a window. Which, for me, was the more annoying instance of this new window positioning that annoyed me. Can anyone check on their systems?

That's one of the easiest things to fix - I'm sure they will get around to fixing it. Just keep giving feedback.

In fact I did it here Controlling Charms... ( in that case it was setting the position of charms off screen each time it was activated)

Don't you just love these (seemingly) from bot written generic answers that have nothing to do with the problem?
This issue might occur due to corrupt system files. Try the following methods and check if the issue persists.

Method 1: Try to run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption. SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

    1. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      sfc /scannow

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

Method 2: Create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select Add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit Next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

I registered just to say I'm with the OP, and many others. But most importantly sticking it to the MS fanboys that gave the OP hell in proclaiming it's not a bug.

This problem - yah I'm not going to say bug cause I know how other people will react - is worst when you have multiple monitors. I have 3, each time I turn them off and on all my windows are resized and stuffed into the first monitor that I turned on. Please don't tell me it's intended behavior because I've been using this 3 monitor setup since Windows 7.

    FOR MODERATOR(S):

Please edit the first comment of this thread to add a big, big note in a striking color to clarify that this BUG can be solved by installing Windows 10 build 10565. To help users who are facing this BUG and to avoid reading 16 pages of thread or avoid new comments like the one I quoted.

Download Windows 10 Insider Preview ISO

About that... I just upgraded to the first major update release of Windows 10 and am now running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.10586. The good news is that the BUG reported in this thread has been fixed for the Windows Explorer Window. YAY!! The bad news is that the bug still exists for the Edge browser window. GRR...
