Just use this little tweak for Windows 7. Works great on 10, taskbar on the bottom. Make sure you have it run at windows startup. You can open, close and reopen any window (pictures, libraries, control panel etc.) a thousand times and it stays put.

    Download the 1st setup exe.

You're quite welcome. Here's how it should be set up. You can uncheck "show tray icon"

I alredy use it but it has a problem, when you open a new folder it places the folder in a random position and not in cascade like windows does by default.

    Snake,

Make sure you set it up as shown below in my pictures.

    1) Make sure you enable "Start Automatically at Logon"

    2) The option: "When navigating to a new location" choose: "Use window as is".

    3) The option: "When opening a new window" choose: "Update Window"

Using these options should make windows perform the way you want it to :)

I forgot to mention that the .exe file would not work on my system but I downloaded and used the 64bit version and it works as advertised :)

I now understand your complaint with windows remembering. I found two links that explain the problem

Can we get a straight answer - Windows does not remember window size and position - Bug or by design? Workaround?

And the video to show the problem Windows 7 - Windows does not remember window size and position - YouTube

you do realize, your links refers to a win 7 issue? in the video the user is showing how win 7 behaves.

well, I tried it anyway, but it doesn't let me install. but that was expected. after all the hotfix mentioned by the software developer is for Windows 7/WindowsServer 2008 R2 AND is a hotfix for a completely different issue..

even the settings 'Launch folder in a seperate prozess' and 'Restore folder window at logon' - view tab>options>view tab- don't fix the issue.

why is it that win 10 windows explorer deliberately adjusts itself to be "cascaded" off of it's old location when reopened?

I also see that you are using win 10. where you able to fix this issue -slugger- by using the mentioned hotfix (Fix298725)?? I doubt it, but I must ask...

I forgot to mention that I tried using the .exe file that is supposed to sense which version you have, either 32 or 64bit but it would not work.

Since I am using the 64bit version of Windows 10 Pro, I downloaded the 64bit version and it works great :)

Yes I understand it's for Win 7. But after seeing the video I understand what the complaint is for Win 10. Which is similar.
