Taskbar will not hide if any app is in fullscreen mode

All of a sudden, now when I put any app in fullscreen, the taskbar remains in place.

I have to set the host taskbar to autohide to see the fullscreen.

It is really annoying in a hyper-v session as it hides the vm taskbar unless I autohide host taskbar

This just started recently - any ideas guys?

edit: found solution - I had to kill windows explorer.exe service from task manager and reboot. Problem sorted!

I solved this in 2 steps:

    1. Open TaskManager (right click on taskbar or CTRL_ALT+DELETE)
    2. In processes, locate and Right-click on Windows Explorer , than click on Restart.

Much easier than killing it and then restarting your pc! Just simply restart it and it should work!

The year is now 2020; one would think that MS would have a permanent FIX, yeah?

Easier workaround still is to open IE browser and then close it; taskbar disappears. My question on that is; Why does this even work? Maybe MS can use this info to create a proper fix already. Thank you
