What is Memory Compression.exe?

The logic question is then: do you have a restore point?

What Process Explorer do you use? In Process Explorer I see Memory Compression without .exe

i'm using AnVir.

good point - i'll try reverting and see if that changes anything.

so. i did a system restore, and the mysterious process was still there! GAH.

aaaand then i remembered that i'd installed a fresh version of Anvir Task Manager about a week ago, right around the time when the process showed up. tried using the regular Windows Task Manager and the problem disappeared! apparently it was Anvir itself that created the process. guess i won't be using that one anymore...
