    Suggestions for a new laptop

I could use some suggestions for a laptop that I need to get for my 13yr old daughter. I just recently started working from home. I need to use my laptop strictly for business. Currently I have to share my computer with my daughter as we homeschool. Although I only work 4-5 hours a day for this first contact job I'm doing I can see myself eventually working 8-10 hours a day. (Whatever it takes to support my family basically).

Part of my dilemma is whether I should purchase a new computer for my needs or if I should buy on based on my daughter's needs. I honestly don't know where working from home will take me. Because I signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement for this job I cannot go into details as to what I am doing now. In the future I can be doing anything from working for U-Haul setting up storage units and rental equipment or I could be writing content for blogs. I just don't know at this point. I do know this much I wish my current laptop had a larger monitor. I'm 51 years young, but not only did I have to get glasses in 2014, I needed bi-focals! A bigger screen is a must in my future. I can see a point in the distant future either buying or building a desktop and using dual monitors, but we've so many other things that have a higher priority, I'm not going down this road just yet.

My daughter on the other hand has unique needs of her own. Being a teen however, I'm leery about buying something overly specific for an interest and then have her loose interest in what I just spent money on. Besides doing the typical teen interests of "talking to" her friends online via the various social media accounts we've allowed her to have. Two primary interests my daughter has beyond talking to friends are drawing and singing/music.

To a degree I'm a realist. I'm not one of these parents that thinks their child is Picasso just by drawing a stick figure. 18 months ago she was drawing stick figures, since then she's radically changed her drawings style so much that she amazes me daily. Right now our daughter is begging us for these Japanese markers that they draw cartoons with that cost something like $15 each! I'd rather get a drawing pad and a good graphic program for her to use instead.

For her music needs, she shines even more. She's been in choir since 3rd grade (she's in 7th now) and is now learning both guitar an piano (My wife's uncle was in a band or 3 for 40 years and is giving he lessons in both) So I'd like to set up a mini home recording studio as well.

I'm just not sure which route to go. Having taking computer courses like A+ and Net+, and other's I'm well aware that any computer you're working on something dealing with artwork or graphics in general needs some muscle for processing all that. Part of me hates having to give my daughter yet another "hand me down" as I had given her my old Galaxy S3 to do all her social media on, but she couldn't do anything else I mentioned on it. Another part of me says to get a better system for me to work with, with a larger monitor, perhaps pre-loaded with Windows 10 pro, and then buy Office 2016 or 365 pro so I can do freelance work.

    What would you do?

The HP laptop at the link below is the one that I got in early November (I got it on sale for $899) and it meets all of your requirements. It has a 17" touchscreen monitor, chicklet keyboard (which stays cleaner), built in Cd/DVD burner (which is hard to find on most laptops), 7200rpm 1TB hard drive, 16GB of RAM (which will mean no memory problems with graphics software or music studio software), and a latest Intel i7 7th generation chip. It should be able to handle anything that you throw at it. It looks like it's not on sale right now, so you may want to keep an eye out for it to go back on sale:

Hope this helps. Also, when you click on the link look at the reviews my review should come up first since it was deemed as the most helpful and has lots more info.
