What works for me - Office 2016 - restart the office and until changing monitors again it remains OK. So not needed to log out, but the win 10 is very problematic with that. I think I will change to 100% ont both to solve this?. Better small than blurry. I dont know what is better. In my situation I never use both monitors at one time, but I simply switch from notebook to external when connected. And this makes some programs blurred.

It seems i have also this problem with my new samsung 4k TV.
My other computer that is also connected (hdmi) to this TV is just fine, like it always whas.
    Both are 1920-1080 resolution.
But my older PC has grainy or blurry text with a white hase to it, i can see that the pixels of the fonts are distorted, like they where converted from 7 by 7 pixels to 10 by 10 pixels, some pixels end up in a place where they dont belong, the resolution seems to low.
I had also connected a 4k graphic card but then it gets really worse, its not readeble anymore.
I found out on the asus site that the motherboard has compatebility problems for 4k, it must be a Intel Core 4th ~ 6th generation platform (Skylake) or higher motherboard.
But i have a AMD chipset, so it wont work.
My other computer is a HP with a xeon processor by the way.
I think that this problem is a conflict between windows and some hardware, like AMD chipsets.
    It cant be solved.
My PC whas just fine with my with my older 55inch HD TV by the way, but this whas with a VGA connection.
    Only the HDMI sucks, so.........
I will buy a VGA to HDMI converter and it must be solved in my opinion.

Ive tried all kinds of resolutions today but still the probleems seems to be inside windows itself, with my amd chipset 32 bit asus system, the other 64bit intel chipset is just fine.
But i found out that in a lower resolution it seems some better, its less pixelised, but thats logical.
I discoverd that when you do the colour adjustment and the cleartype function on a lower resolution it has results on the higher resolution as well.(in a different way)
When i switched back to 1080 the fonts where more crisp, still to pixelised but the white hase or echo whas gone.
Maybe this works with others as well

I have my VGA converter recieved today and i connected it, but it seems that the problem is still the same.
So the output is the same as with hdmi.
It keeps a problem in windows with my motherboard with the AMD chipset.
My other computer has a normal image, its not pixelised, its a normal smooth image.
Also pictures and movies are pixelised by the way.
But anyway i had to buy this converter, my hdmi has a other problem too, after some time the colours shifted into a green echo on the screem.
That must be gone now, otherwise i must use a lower resolution on a other sort of hdmi input and then all colours are disterted too.
I hoped my posts helped for some.

Blurry Font Issue back with updated Windows 10

    Hello,
After two weeks of desperately trying to fix the blurry font issue on my Dell laptop, a friend shared the Advanced Display Setting fix with me, and it worked!
Unfortunately, my employer's ITS needed to reinstall Windows 10 Enterprise on my machine, and the Advanced Display Settings is now gone. Changing just the custom scaling does not improve things. At every attempt, things get blurrier.
I would be so grateful if you could offer any suggestions on how to fix the issue.
    Thank you!

I also discovered that this is an issue of the sharpness setting of the display, (only 4K displays) if the setting is to scharp it will get blurry with a 1920 1080 input.
Just because it cant handle a low resolution because of upscaling or something (with 4K TV's)
If you lower the scharpness things will get normal again.

I fixed my issue. I changed the video cable. Now it is perfectly crisp.

I tried display advanced scaling settings.
    XPexplorer windows10 DPI fix application.
Compatibility DPI scaling override in applications.
    Everything else.
    But no solution.
However, the issue was solved when I explored my video card / display adapter settings.
There was RGB and ycbcr in its menu of color pixel format under my digital flat panels.
The text was blurry in right context menu, edge, word, control panel, explorer, all applications, etc. when ycbcr was selected.
When I chose rgb instead, the text became crystal clear and sharp as desired.
    Cheers.

If you don't want to use a third party tool, just create a .cmd file with the content of

    Code:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v DpiScalingVer /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00001018 /f
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v Win8DpiScaling /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v LogPixels /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000078 /f
and put it in your startup folder. Voila! You have your own fix now. This is what I linked in the previous page as well.

The problem lies with DpiScalingVer and Win8DpiScaling keys in the respective section of registry. These keys used to change respecting what scale option you did choose in Windows 8.1 (Win8DpiScaling entry being "Let me choose one display scale for all stuff", it's not even present in Windows 10), but now only LogPixels entry is affected when a scaling option is selected.

So in fact we manually edit those keys to have what we had in the past. There are no negative side effects or anything, and it's gonna probably be fixed in the future.
Problem fixed while doing these steps on Lenovo X1 Carbon.

    Thanks bro!

I found a way to hide the batch file at startup. If you already have the batch in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, move it from there to another location (you will need it). If you still haven't created the batch, do it saving the following in a .bat file:
    Code:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v DpiScalingVer /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00001018 /f
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v Win8DpiScaling /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v LogPixels /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000078 /f
    Now do this:
    1. Open Task Scheduler from Start.
    2. Click on "Create Task..." on the right hand pane.
    3. Give it a name like "Fix DPI blur".
    4. Select "Run whether user is logged on or not".
    5. Go to the "Triggers" tab and click on "New...".
    6. On the "Begin the task" drop-down menu select "At startup" and hit OK.
    7. Go to the "Actions" tab and click on "New...".
    8. Browse for your .bat script and hit OK.
    9. On the "Conditions" tab you might want to uncheck "Start the task only if the computer is on AC power".
    10. Hit OK. In case you are prompted for a password, type your account password and hit OK.
    11. You might need a couple of reboots. After that you're done.

    Hope this helps. :)
Thank you very much indeed sir! I had to register exclusively to thank you, too!

One thing I changed was the settings (one further tab to the right), where I unchecked "disable if run for more than..." (the translation might be wrong as my pc's language isn't English). I don't know if it was necessary but I didn't want to risk to have the same problem again after three reboots.

Apparently this edit only caused my pc to boot 0.2 seconds slower (but it may also just be random).

Everything is now perfect but things seem to be a bit smaller now, especially on my DAW, Reaper. I don't really care and just hope I'll have some luck changing the settings there.

What makes me sad is that 3 (read: three) years later, the problem still hasn't been solved.
