    Context Menu Problem

When I right-click on an executable, the context menu shows "%1 %* instead of Run.

The executable runs when I click "%1 %*
I searched the registry but could not find a "%1 %* value.
I have no idea how this happened.
How can I change it back to Run.

    Thanks for your help.

Hello Brian, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

It looks like one of those context menu items had messed with the registry entry for "open". If you like, you could download and merge the .reg file for the exe in the table of OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore the default association and registry entries for .exe files.

Thanks. I tried that but it did not solve the problem.

In that case, export the registry key below as a .reg file, and upload it here. I'll take a look at it to see if anything may stand out as a cause.

    aha...

    Brilliant!
You found the "%1 %* value.
I'm surprised I couldn't find it searching with regedit.

    Now...how do I fix it?

    Thank you.

I see the problem. Something modified your default entries for open. Downloading, merging, and approving the .reg file below should sort this for you.
