glennc, the way I understand it at the basic level (very well could be wrong) the application icons are essentially a shortcut to the program which resides on a server unlike a program which is resident on your computer.

When you download an application for a smart phone, ipad, or surface device you are creating a shortcut to that application on a server.
    Hello CmmTch,
That is explicitly and exactly what I do NOT want to do. It used to be called a dumb terminal. Thanks for the input!

Hello and thanks for the hope FuturDreamz,
    ))) no problem

How would one go about doing this. I really appreciate the help!
))) when you first set up your computer you have the chance to log in or create a Microsoft account. All you have to do is skip that step, and you can also go into settings to switch between the two types as desired.

Well in this case I personally do not want to have to sign up to any more accounts to use my system than I already do.
Without having the vast knowledge of some of this forums users, I have to guess and filter ideas through my past experiences.
))) if you have a hotmail or outlook.com account it will work as a hotmail account, and no other account is needed for the system.

I've relied on the Seven and Eight forums for some great help. Thank you for your explanation. I might try to turn my secondary into a straight Windows Ten. I've read that the license agreement allows MS to keylog on the preview.
    Appreciated,
    glennc
I don't really know you much about the keylogging thing, but if there is one it will be removed by rtm.

Probably true -- provided you exit the Insider program after installing the RTM version. Otherwise, unless MS comes out with a license change for RTM, there is no reason to believe that the "keystroke capturing" is suddenly going to end (for the Insiders program) with RTM.
