2 Common Issues with Windows for me

    Hello all,

I have two issues with Windows behavior. I don't if it's Windows 10 related or not but I have seen them on Windows 7 and 8 as well. I have a very fast computer and plenty of experience as well with the PC but never figured out the following 2 issues:

    1. In Windows 10, when the computer boots, the very first right click on any file, shortcut on desktop or anywhere else etc. takes one-two seconds to display the menu and, after the menu displays there is like a 'refresh' going on, no matter what programs I have installed on my machine and may appear in the context menu. Afterwards, in that boot session, every right click on any file (I repeat) displays the menu in an instant and works like a charm... but the first right click is awkward... it takes up to 2 seconds to display the right click menu...

    2. When I hover the cursor on a file in windows explorer (My Computer, This PC, any folder etc.), after a second or so there should be a pup-up displaing the file size, type etc. In Windows 10, 7, 8 (I think), this pop-up never worked for the FIRST file in any folder (alphabetically organised or so) but if I hover on the second file or the others, the menu displays and if I get back to the first file it works as well. This have been happening since Windows 7 for me... I can't find anything relevant on the internet though.

Please help or get back for other clarifications!

    Regards,
    Epsilonn

Hi, point 1: try diagnosing the context menu entries.

Download, install and run Nirsoft's Shellexview (free); hide all MS entries, disable the rest, and click the 32 but option too to expose more. See if there's any improvement.

If ok, progressively enable groups of extensions until you get undesirable behaviour. Work backwards to discover the extension or extensions causing a difficulty.

Note: I've found Shellexview doesn't necessarily show all context entries. You might also try his Shellmenuview.

The above may help with point 2.

#1. I see a similar hesitation when opening Firefox 50 on macOS Sierra on my MacBook Pro the first time after awakening and clicking an icon of the Favorites Toolbar. After that click or right-click activates there's never any hesitation.
