Could you be more specific? For example, are the taskbar icons missing? Are the icons not working when you click on them? Did the taskbar disappear? When you updated Windows "a few days back" was it security updates or did you update the entire operating system to the Anniversary Update?

Some icons are missing and when I click on them nothing happens, the taskbar is still there but it's not working. The system updated when I turned my pc of a few days ago, so I don't really know

I found a temporary solution on this thread that works, for the time being.

It's possible that your Windows 10 has some damaged or corrupt system files. You can run a System File Checker scan. If damaged or corrupt files are found the scan will attempt to repair or replace them. The following tutorial (Option Three) explains more. In my opinion, the easiest way to run the scan:

    1. Right click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    2. At the blinking cursor type in sfc /scannow and click Enter (note the space between sfc and /scannow)
    3. The scan will take several minutes to run. Hopefully you will see "no integrity violations found"
    4. If the finished scan found corrupt files but could not fix some of them, run the SFC scan again and see the "Note" under Step 6 of Option Three. (I also suggest restarting your computer after each scan.)

Depending on the results of the SFC scan(s) will determine what else you can try.
