As a test, does the shortcut go away if you refresh (F5) the desktop when it appears?

I disabled Quick Access via WinAero and now there's a stupid "shortcut" to it I can't delete on my desktop. How do I get rid of it?
Right click on Desktop and Refresh or press F5.

Nope, it's still there. It randomly disappears then comes back again.

    Run CMD as copy/paste:
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel" /v "{679f85cb-0220-4080-b29b-5540cc05aab6}" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    taskkill /im explorer.exe /f & explorer.exe

I don't have the "stupid Quick Access shortcut on my desktop" ... because I still have Quick Access turned on.
Thanks for the information on how to turn it off.
BTW, when I turned it off, I did get the "stupid Quick Access shortcut". Strange that it appeared intermittently, as already described.
But the second fix, above, eliminated that.

    So, thanks for this.

Looks like it worked for me, too.
