Remove Windows.old

    Remove Windows.old


    Hi,

    Does anyone know how to remove this annoying Windows.old folder? If I try using the Disk Cleanup included with windows it wont work...

    Tried Option one, it does nothing and 2 and 3 I get "Access Denied"

    In that case see if the free program Malwarebytes FileASSASSIN or Unlocker may be able to delete it.

    Simple really,

    Step 1, open windows explorer and right click on c:\ drive
    Step 2, go to properties
    Step 3, click on disk cleanup
    Step 4, let it do its thing for a minute then click on "Clean up system files" and make sure previous windows installations is checked.
    Step 5, click "OK" and "Delete files"

    It sounds like you don't have elevated privileges or ownership of the file....

    It worked for me. Just cleaned out 90 gb of trash.

    Well I restarted my computer, it is no faster. It still takes over 10 seconds for this stupid machine to completely shut off and restart.
