Windows 10: Finished Windows 10 updates, now nothing works
Finished Windows 10 updates, now nothing works
Did windows 10 updates on my Lenovo idea pad laptop this morning and now have myriad of problems. Look everywhere for solutions, tried multiple restarts, nothing works.
1. Cannot connect to internet. Can't even access network or connection screens through control panel or bottom desktop toolbar(nothing happens when clicked)
2. Browsers don't work correctly, Firefox won't open at all, Chrome opens a blank white window with invisible address bar(???), edge doesn't even seem to be installed anymore(??????)
3. Ctrl alt del goes to a blank black screen, have to press ESC to exit. (Can still get to task manager through other means though)
4. Cannot access start menu. Can right click on it to access device menu/ task manager/control panel/etc but nothin happens when clicked normally
5. Cannot get right click menus from most things, namely the bottom desktop toolbar, most program icons do nothing when clicked (but some still do...?)
6. Notifications do not appear (though I can still see the number of them that I have) and can't access action center or updates page
Tldr: installed updates, no internet now, most programs/menus do nothing when clicked, help?
Update: I managed to get online somehow. Firefox finally opened after like an hour and was able to launch it in "Safe mode" (so none of my add-ons work...). Also managed to get to the Network Connections folder by right-clicking on the start menu (which now does not work anymore AT ALL, left-click or right click!) and manually connect to my Wi-Fi. I have internet connection and a working browser(for now), but other than that, everything else is still being stupid. I can't even access my display settings/personalization by right-clicking on the desktop as I get an error prompt that reads:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Without the right-click on the start menu I don't even know how to access the control panel or command prompt or anything. I could really use some help here guys....

Could you be a bit more specific? I can't figure out how to even get to the Update & Security page. My Start menu is not working at all, right click or left click. I can right click on the task bar and click "Settings" but nothing happens afterwards. I'm not sure where to find Update & Security in the control panel or explorer either...
Sorry I'm not too competent with this stuff...
also could try - CTRL - ALT - DEL
select task manager
select file > run new task
enter > control.exe
Thanks so much! I will try and restore it now.....
Tried multiple times to restore my computer to different restore points, failed every time and got an error prompt every time saying it failed to extract some file(different one each time) and did not complete.
Don't know what else to do. Half my programs are unusable, can barely get online, can't access certain right-click menus and drop-downs, taskbar mostly unresponsive.
not restore to points
restore my computer to different restore points
Reset Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
It does not boot at all. I downloaded 2 windows 10 installations.
First one got to the New user screen. when i click next, it crashes and restarts and does it all over again.
second one does the infinite boot loop. Does not go anywhere....
Searched thru post, lots of near misses but no solution to my issue. Only on windows 10 does this problem exist.
I connect office equipment to customers pcs/networks. I use a script to create a hidden/special user that has admin permissions...
I've been getting this, as well as WiFi is "Limited access" when I hover it and it has that triangle.
I can only think of OpenVPN causing such, so i uninstalled it. I reset my network card, but it's still giving me this when booting my computer...
I have no idea if anyone can help me with this, because it's so weird, but here goes.
I recently upgraded a laptop of mine to Windows 10 (clean install). I often transfer files to and from this laptop with a desktop (running...
So, I have a Sony Vaio VPCEA25FG, the spec is i3 2.27 Ghz, 4 gb of ram, and ATI Radeon 5145 when I was windows 7, but after I upgraded to windows 10, the graphics card, change to ATI Radeon 4500, what should I do to get the 5145?
