Hi all can you clone a ssd to a m.2 ssd, making the m.2 ssd the boot drive?

Yes. Most new SSDs include software to clone. If not, Macrium Reflect Free or MiniTool Partition Wizard. You will have to make the adjustments in your boot order in UEFI to boot from the m.2 SSD.
