File listed on desktop does not show in desktop

When I search my computer for a file, it shows up in the found list with a bunch of numbers and letters after it that mean nothing to me. When I open it and try to save it to the desktop, I'm told that it is already on the desktop. I look for it and its not there. When I click on the desktop binder and look for it there, it isn't there either.

Please post screen shots of both conditions. The Snipping Tool (in Windows Accessories) will do the job. Seeing the additional numbers and letters may help to know what is happening.

Are your system specs up to date? Your build info shows [OS: Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.14394 Build 14393] Build 14393 is Version 1607. With Windows Home, I would expect you to be on Version 1803 or 1809. Having the correct version may be useful in helping you. Type Winver in the run box.

Right click on file and select (down at middle of menu) Open file location. Search results can be tricky sometimes about files manipulation.
File listed on desktop does not show in desktop-image.png

And check "View hidden files". Maybe it's hidden

A file, "SAVED AS" should show up here: File listed on desktop does not show in desktop-image.png It doesn't.
This is what I get when I search in "My Computer": File listed on desktop does not show in desktop-image.png

I've discovered that, in order to use, "Save As" to save to the desktop, I have to make sure that "This Computer > Desktop" is showing as the destination. Otherwise it will go to some place with a whole long destination that I totally do not understand. So the mystery is solved but I don't know how to indicate that this issue is resolved. How do you do that?

If you want to find out more about where the files are, right click on shortcut (in search results) and check location

, it shows up in the found list with a bunch of numbers and letters after it
Try saving it as the Name of the file without the numbers. Try saving it to a different location (ie) Documents, or Downloads.
You can save it to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Desktop.
