Windows 10 Updates Destroyed My Desktop
I'm not sure this is the right forum. Microsoft has the worst customer feedback site. Here goes....Recently, I purchased a Dell Laptop with Windows 10 on it. I should I have waited and found another brand with Windows 8 still on it. Last week, as I was out of the room, Windows Anniversary Updates were installed on my system. When I returned and looked at my screen, I got a message essentially telling me that my desktop was destroyed. I did the natural thing and found a back door into Control Panel and used system restore. It worked the first time, but unfortunately, after installing a program, which required a restart, Windows hit me with updates again. It took twelve hours. It was an honest mistake, but, thanks to Windows corrupt program, this last restart move proved disasterous. This time when I attempted restore and waited ten hours, I lost my desktop completely. I don't know if a technician can fix this. I'm really angry with Microsoft. Though I have most of my files (some of them, such as Word, corrupted), retrieved after some wrangling, I have no idea what can be dne to retrieve or replace my desktop short of a miracle or clean copy of Windows (which would wipe my laptop clean). Microsoft customer feedback line is a joke. At least, I could say a few words here.
