    Win10 explorer search dont work


    Hi, guys!

    Well, my explorer search is not working. At all. I'm working (my job) on the PC and have thousends of files, which I have to finde every time I need them. And I need them often. But the explorer search is driving me creazy. Indexed or not. It just makes no sense to me.

    For example. I have few hunderts files wich contain the word YYY in the file name. When I type "YYY" it shows just 10 results from 2014 or 2013. I mean, I am looking into a file and typing its name and the search results is telling me that there are no files with that name.
    I often have to search for a name (YYY) and then for a specific content in the file (in Win7 I typed "content: ZZZ"). I cant believe that win10 is so unriable.

    I found this topic, but in my case the SYSTEM is listed.

    I'm so annoyed. I mean, all those bugs would be bearable if they would not be crucial...but things like simple search isnt working, or start button is from time to time not working...I'm realy considering to go back to win7...it's riable...dissapointed in win10

    Please help...I would be very greatful

    Welcome to the forum!

    The security settings for the folder may be the culprit.

    Please try the following:


    • Right-click the folder, and click Properties
    • Click the Security tab.
    • If you don't see System listed under Group or User names, click: Edit
    • Click: Add
    • Type: System in the box that appears
    • Click: Check Names.
    • Under Matching names, click System
    • Click OK until all of the open dialog boxes are closed.





    You need to rebuild the index once you have made this change.

    Firt of all, thanks for your time. But, the same answer/solution was offered in the link a gave...I wanted to say that those solutions were not helping in my case
    found this topic, but in my case the SYSTEM is listed.
    Btw, I noticed that, when i type in "Name: YYY" it work. Comon MS...thats ridiculous...now I have to type in every time "name:" if I want to search properly
