    Error shellexperiencehost.exe after using MalwareBytes

    Hello,

    After I used Malware Bytes and putting some threads(see printscreen) in quarantine I started to have some problems on my laptop. My start and search functions doesn't work anymore and I get the following errors:
    -Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperieceHost doesn't work anymore
    - Microsoft.windowscommunicationsapp.. doesn't work anymore

    How can I fix this problem? (I already tried sfcscannow and dism.exe cleanup-image, no errors) If you have questions, feel free to ask.

    Start PowerShell as Administrator and run

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Repeat for Microsoft.windowscommunicationsapp - you'll find the command here:

    By 'search doesn't work any more' I will assume you mean the Cortana search box usually on the task bar. (There is also the traditional Windows search which Cortana uses for searching files and folders, and available in file explorer, amongst others).

    So again in that document, find the command for Cortana and try running that.

    Start Menu:
    try

    Failing all of this, you may need to do an in-place upgrade repair install.

    Thanks for your help. I already tried that approach. It doesn't help. I also tried to make a second account with administratorrights but that didn't work either. Same problems in that account. It seems that none of the windows apps are working on my computer.

    Have you tried an in-place upgrade repair install as per my previous post?

    @lci1987, You have a number of crack tools and keygens in your system which many times cause many of the problems you are having.

    We do not provide help to systems with cracked and pirated software. Please see the Forum Rules. Many of these cracks must alter system files to activate the software, which causes these and other problems. I would recommend you do a clean install without any cracked or pirated software. If you do that and are still having problems, we will be glad to assist.
