No icons on desktop after startup only

I have a strange problem in Windows 10 Pro.

After upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10 Pro my icons on the desktop are missing, but only at startup.

If I rightclick on the desktop to get the menu up where i can refresh the screen(i don't click it though) then i click somewhere on the desktop then all my icons comes back.

How can i change it so my icon is there from the start? Registry fix or something?

    EagleEye,

    Welcome to the forum!

Have you tried toggling the Desktop icons on and off?

    • Right-click on an open area of the Desktop
    • Click: View
    • If Show Desktop icons is already checked, uncheck it.
    • Repeat the above steps a time or two.
    • Check: Show Desktop icons

If no go on the above, right-click on the empty Desktop, and create a file.

Let us know if they come back on.

    Thanks cottonball.

Forgot to tell that i'm using an old version of 'Fences' to arrange the icons and i'm pretty sure that most be the problem.

As soon as i right-click on the desktop all icons are showing up. I don't have to click anything in that pop-up menu to toggle the icons to show up. They just show up when i right-click on the desktop.

    Thanks for your input though.

    EagleEye,

Thank you for the info! It places this problem on a different light.

You may want to consider addressing your issue in the Stardock Fences forum. The problem may just be a Fences' hiccup, or a problem with Fences that may, or may not, have a solution.

Would try that first, rather than trying to solve the issue as a Windows 10 problem.

    Yeah you're right.

I go to that forum and ask if anyone have notice this problem before.

    Thanks you for your help.
