Search icon on taskbar

    That tutorial was Oct 2015 Ms has changed how Cortana is configured with a tweak to the registry. So the tutorial is now dead in the water.

    Well I am at a loss because mine does not do that! maybe I should roll back and then waste another 4 hours trying again. No thanks! I simply cannot wait to see the back of Win 10 once and for all. This is just typical of why Win 10 will ultimately fail.

    You can check you have no install errors by:

    right click start button

    Select "command prompt (admin)"
    type
    Code:
    SFC /SCANNOW
    see if it thows any errors

    It looks like it worked since I see the search icon on the taskbar.

    Bizarrely I gave it one more shot this morning and it worked!! Great stuff! - still hate Win 10

    Just a reminder: you don't need the search box or icon on the taskbar, you can simply press Start then start typing.
