Of course the Technet keys are not eligible for the upgrade. Those are for testing! Besides if you have an active Technet account you can get Windows 10 the same way you get every version of Windows on Technet.

But of course Technet Subscription has gone away so one will not be exploiting that any more.
I have Technet keys for both Win 7 Ultimate and Win 8.1 pro and have been running them for a very long time. Both have the Reserve Windows 10 icon and have a confirmed reservation. The Technet keys were for testing however they are good forever with the computer that they are assigned. I also have been running Office 2010 on one machine and Office 2013 on another. These are all valid keys.

I've even transferred the license from one PC to another with no issues.

I haven't tried transferring the keys as I was allocated 10 keys for every operating system and Office etc. which are all perpetual keys so have never needed to transfer since I have more keys than places to put them.

I tried using WIn8.1(TechNet License) on my previous PC and then I decided to get a new one and now I use it on this one and the transfer was not an issue.

I have used the Office 2010 key on different computers with no issue but at the time you could get license keys for every version of Windows so never had to transfer. When I subscribed to Technet numerous years ago they even stated that the licenses are perpetual but Microsoft had the ability to cancel them at any time. I don't know of anyone who had any license keys cancelled by Microsoft.

My TechNet and MSDN keys are listed as retail keys. Transferring should not be an issue. I have more keys than devices to use them on so I haven't had to transfer any. I still keep track of what key has been used on what PC though so I'm always using the same key on the same PC. Windows and Office.

I do exactly the same thing.

How many folks are planning to buy the Win10 Pro version when it is released? I am going to buy a full copy when it is comes out. A year does not last very long and then we will need to buy it anyways.
Ok folks back to the original post, I'm sticking with the Home version, because I don't require the additional stuff included with Pro or Enterprise for that matter for my day to day use:
    Pro extra's
    - Domain Join Services
    - BitLocker Drive Encryption
    - Remote Access Services
    - Group Policy editor
    - Windows Update for Business

    Enterprise extra's
    - Domain Join Services
    - BitLocker Drive Encryption
    - Remote Access Services
    - Group Policy editor
    - Windows Update for Business
    - Long Term Servicing Branch
    - Device Guard - help protect against the ever-growing range of modern securitythreats targeted at devices, identities, applications and sensitive company

One feature I miss sometimes is remote Desktop. With Home you can remote desktop in but not out. My only PC running Windows 10 at the moment is my Media Center PC hooked up to the TV in my living room. Instead of commandeering the TV when I want to check something out I just remote desktop into it from this PC. I can then shut it down remotely and log off when I'm done. If I had Home on this PC I couldn't do that. I also remote desktop into my Raspberry Pi from my laptop sometimes. The Pi only has a 5 inch screen connected so when I'm in a Terminal Window doing stuff I do it from my laptops bigger screen. If I had Home on my laptop that wouldn't be doable. Group Policy Editor is another feature I use from time to time.

I'm still on the fence about the free Win 10 Home upgrade. One reason is the WU update management option not included in the Home version. I hope that changes but if not, I might wait and purchase Win 10 Pro sometime down the road.

Since I have OEM install PC's, I can't transfer to a new future PC with the free Win 10 upgrade path. My Desktop and Laptop PC's are Win 10 compatible according to what I've read online about Win 10 System requirements.

I'm ok with Win 7x64, had it since 2010 and it's the best Windows version (for me) that I've used on my PC's. With 5 more years of Win 7 extended support available, I'll watch how the Win 10 rollout progresses over the next few months and make a decision, probably next May-June, about the purchasing Win 10 Pro or upgrading to the free Home version.
