They said that they may go open source but I doubt that.

Well free is a very good reason in my opinion. Also the benefit of more Ram allocation (This is for W8 and Windows 10 so pointed at W7 users). Having change for no reason is mentioned a lot. But in contrast being up to date with the latest available improvements counters that...there is a reason.

It's what 8 and 8.1 should've been. If you are running Windows 8.1 there's no reason to hold back. Windows 7 users, however, may want to stick with what they've got. MS will support it until 2020 anyway.
The only real reason for me to move from W7 to W10 might be developing applications for Windows Phone 8.x/Windows Mobile 10, as phone emulators require Hyper-V. And even in such case I would probably dual-boot between W7 and W10. I've got a few VM-s set up and Hyper-V and VMware are mutually exclusive.
Hi there.
You could DUAL BOOT systems with VM-ware / Hyper-V so you can use either.
There is a way also of enabling HYPER-V at boot so you can boot giving you a choice of either VMware or Hyper-V.
Some links in this thread probably are worth looking at.
Solved Hyper V and VMWare on the same machine

Make the windows 10 nag notifications go away.
I wasn't a huge fan of 8, but I love 8.1, IMO it's a fine OS, even more-so with Classic Shell installed (although I never bothered, I used the All Apps screen).
I ran the 10 betas in a virtual-machine til last May, then made it my main OS. Did the 10240 upgrade over an 8.1 image with no issues.
But like 8 (eventually, and with some heavy modifications) and unlike the love-at-first-sight (for me, anyway) 8.1, it never seemed to 'click' with me. No, I'm not going to rave on about how much it sucks, because it basically doesn't, but I feel a bit the same way about it as many feel about 8/8.1 ie I'd use it if I had to, but not otherwise.
So I'm back on 8.1 and very happy.
No, I haven't abandoned W10 - it will just be back to being a guest OS again, and not the host (once I get a copy of the latest ISO).
