Windows 10: "location is not available" Windows 10 Error
"location is not available" Windows 10 Error
Can anyone advise on what's causing the following?
It happens about once a week at the moment when I first boot up (from cold). Once it happens, I'm left without a desktop so have to shut down. When I reboot all my icon locations have been reset which is rather annoying!
Open Settings....is Location on?....
your registry has a bad key Login Error
C:\Windows\System32\Config\Systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable
Login as different user, machine boots fine
Go to Start/Search and type Regedit and press enter
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Look for a profile ending in .bak
Find the other one with the exact name and delete it
Edit the first key and Remove the .bak
In Windows 8.1 (and as far as I can remember in all previous Windows versions) I used to be able to do the following:
In Windows Explorer: Open a .jpg file from anywhere in my file system, by right mouse clicking and choosing "edit"
My computer suddenly developed two problems which popped up at the same time. When I log into Windows 10 and it boots up, I get a popup which says "We couldn't find the location of your OneDrive folder". The pop-up asks me to click to reconfigure...
Does it turn Location privacy on and off?
I know there are a handful of threads with the above error message and code, but I have yet to see a thread with what was my reason for the error code. I wanted to pass on what I discovered and how I fixed it.
I started with a standard Windows 7...
I have upgraded 5 machines and clean installed 3 machines.
Experienced an issue with one machine with continuous corruption problems
After the 3rd attempt I discovered that even with a Clean Install of Win 10 I get unrepairable errors - Sorry...
