Another option you have for a classical feel if you do decide to upgrade to Windows 10 (which you could have done with Windows 8/8.1) there is an app for free called CLASSIC SHELL that you can download and it will literally let you customize your start menu/button to Windows 98 style, Windows XP, Windows 7, depending on the layout and feel you want.

Or if your not really savvy and just want to install a program and have it take over for you, google START8 which is a start menu just like Windows 7 but made for Windows 8 and 10 (when 10 goes RTM). Start8 requires no tweaking, super user friendly and is 30 days free to use, after that its $4.99 for the program for lifetime license. You will get your Windows 7 style start menu whilst running Windows 10.

There are options available. And those tiles, you can right-click and either uninstall as many as you can or Windows will allow or just unpin them from the start menu.
