WIn32 desktop apps sometimes have spell checkers also
But they use their own spell checkers.
In future more of them will be able to use system spell checker, as MS made possible to unify them. Will have to try new Open writer...

For some unknown reason I still get the annoying red underline in Edge despite having all the settings in settings-devices-typing turned off.
What's up with that? Did I miss something else somewhere?

windows 10 Microsoft Edge corrects all words in Facebook messages. All this happened when Microsoft update original Windows 10 that I installed months ago.
