    Taskbar refuses to auto-hide

Under "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" I have checked the box labeled "Auto-hide the taskbar", but it doesn't hide itself nor can I move it down using the arrows. What can I do to fix this problem.

There was another thread about this problem but it was last commented on more than a year ago and nobody had figured it out.

    Thank you

Hello, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

There's a separate setting for auto-hide taskbar in desktop and tablet mode now. Double check using the tutorials below to see if you have it set for the mode you are using.

Open up a File Explorer window and the task manager. Right click file explorer in task manager and choose restart. This should fix the the auto-hide function if it is locking up.

I opened "File Explorer window" but no "task manager" listed anywhere.

I'm starting to think I have Windows 9 1/2 because I don't have what Windows 10 is supposed to have.
