Helmut Buhler's 8GadgetPack works well on all current versions of Windows 10. I have it installed on 7 of my 8 PCs (My wife doesn't want it on hers, but all the rest have it running). Runs standard gadgets, of which I am most prone to use Clock, CPU Usage, Network Meter, and Control System. The software is free, but the developer accepts PayPal donations. I've given him $25 to help support ongoing development myself.

Have tried the weather app with the umbrella icon on page 3? On my initial install all the weather servers worked great. Even after Windows 10 upgrades. I had to do a clean install of 8GadgetPack and now only a couple of weather servers work. The weather app worked good until I did the reinstall. Just curious if it was just a coincidence that they stopped worker after the reinstall or if something changed with the weather servers that stopped them from working. When I try them I get a no connection found error.

Edit: The two that still work are wunderground.com and theweathernetwork.com.

The 8GadgetPack was precisely the one which the update has removed the other night. I shall try to reinstall.
I'm not convinced gadgets are necessarily a security leak, as Microsoft states. Instead, I suspect MS is nudging us towards the Tiles style, to talk up their phone.

I like having my weather app on my desktop. I have it on the upper right hand corner. When my computer updates I get a notice about 8GadgetPack needing to be repaired and do I want to do the repair. For me the weather app was working great until I did a clean install of 8GadgetPack. Now I can't access most of the weather providers.

Good news: the 8GadgetPack is back! Our esteemed manufacturer has seen the light, and KB3194496 which automatically installed last night allows the gadgets again. After an absence of 5 days, the gadgets came back with their old settings. I guess 8GadgetPack was deemed "insecure" at first, for the simple fact that they were not owned by Microsoft (and I'm writing this on a tablet using SwiftKey...)
