Still Cannot Delete Recovery Partition
Tried the commands a few times still am not able to get rid of the Recovery Partition image I made by accident when creating a Recovery usb disk backup.*john
Hi...not this one it was created when I was making a recovery USB drive...by mistake I selected it to leave a copy of it on the computer...now it's just taking up over 6gig space....this is a small 28gig drive so I need the space...here is my disk management...you can see it is a separate drive and allows no changes.*john
Ok, assuming you mean the 7Gb partition on Disk 1:- if you can't delete it with Windows running, you can delete it from outside Windows as I said, using a partition manager boot disk and booting from that, or by booting to a command prompt via SHIFT+ left click Restart (i.e. Windows is not then running).
I'd have guessed that might be your manufacturer's recovery partition.
You could try unregistering it. From elevated command prompt see if disk 1 is registered as recovery partition with reagentc /info and if it is disable it with reagentc /disable
You could also try (in diskpart)
select disk 1
clean
I was given the option to save a copy of this recovery image...whats the use if I can't even acces it?
I thought there is a way to simply erase it...never even knew it was there untill i checked disk management...it's not even shown in file explorer....partition manager whats that another program which I would have to create a boot disk from it?....to get to which screen....recovery boot menu?*john

Hi...thanks...I already tried 'Clear' earlier today...and it did clear the data however it still shows in disk management...and I did not gain any space on my drive...so I have to get rid of th
at partition as it is useless no matter how times I try to unlock the write protect...it just won't unlock.
I also tried those other commands /disable what ever they are made no difference...thanks for the reply...anyother ideas?....how can this partition be inserted and act like it not even there....it's almost hidden...and now it's cleared and completely useless.
BTway this a Asus t100 transfomer....
I'm sure this partition was created when I made that Recovery usb disk...then I should be able to remove it...yes?
*john
You already have methods that will work.... have you actually tried them?
You could also remove the disk from your PC and format it by connecting it to another PC.... (!)
I tried all the commands I can find here and the net...only 'Clear' worked to wipe the data on that drive but I can't access that stupid drive...so right now it is 7 gig of lost space....being a small laptop I can not remove it anyways....28 gig drive.
I also am running my desktop pc with eight different Windows systems between two 500 gig hard drives so I know how to create partitions and expand and shrink and delete.
This drive is like a mystery partition ...
How can I even run a chkdsk if the is no drive letter assigned?...and it's not listed in the File explorer.
This is a weird issue and I really do not want to re-install Windows.*john
Have you tried booting from a partition manager's boot disk?
Or Win 10's boot disk, and format the drive, or whatever you'd like to try?
