    Desktop Icons

I have a couple of programs that I update quite regularly. However they come with a name that is quite long and I like to shorten it down to something smaller. However when I go and change the name down to something that is smaller the icon itself changes to a blank sheet after a reboot. While the program still works, the icon looks like crap. If I go to the properties of the icon, the change icon tab is shaded out, as well as open file location tab thus will not allow me to manually change the icon itself back.

I am not fully aware why those 2 tabs would be shaded out. Does any one have a remedy or idea that would work to keep the icon, but just rename it without it changes to blank sheet. Thanks.

    Hello Mike, :)

How does it work for you if you create a new shortcut of the program on your desktop using the method below?

Right click on program's .exe file, and click on "Send to" and "Desktop (create shortcut)", then rename shortcut.

Tried your method and after several reboots everything is still working perfectly. Thanks again for your help.
