lock function is on but computer continues to start

After calling up the list using ctrl alt delete I check Lock. Everything was fine for a few weeks but now I hear the computer going out of lock mode at least once every forty-five minutes.I turn on the monitor and the sign in screen is up instead of the no signal advisory. After a short while the function kicks back in.

Should I stop trying to keep the computer in Lock? I've been advised by some never to turn the computer off and keep it in Lock mode when not using it. I prefer having everything loaded up so I don't have to wait between five and ten minutes for everything to load up. I just want to make sure I'm not harming my computer.

    Thanks.

Um... You seem to be confusing Lock mode and Sleep mode. Locking your computer is not by itself supposed to put your computer into Sleep mode. It is perfectly normal to see the sign in screen when your computer is Locked. Whether a locked computer will go into Sleep mode by itself depends on your Sleep settings, which is a separate issue.

If you don't want your computer to stay on all the time, then a good idea would be to put your computer in Sleep mode when you are not using it. Note: Sleep mode, not Lock mode.

Thanks. I was confused between the two. A member of my company's IT team recommended the computer be put in Lock mode and never in Sleep. As long as it doesn't do any harm I'll leave it in Lock mode.
