    I booted from my older XP disk with win10 disk also mounted and was able to get into windows/system32/config and copy the backup registry files to replace the current ones. After repower with disks reversed everything seems back to normal with the original problem of no audio still not working , which I can live with for a while.

    Solved:


    I also done the same dumbest thing. I have rectified the problems by:
    1. Booting into Ubuntu os (created booted USB of Ubuntu os through mobile app "EtchDroid"). It has "try Ubuntu option" Which doesn't install os (completely works faster).
    2.And I renamed the magnify file with cmd file(interchanged), present in the C drive > windows > system32 through Ubuntu file explorer.
    (Now the magnify file is the cmd program.)
    3. Then Rebooted into windows 10 and selected magnify option. Then the cmd program opens.
    4. Entered "msconfig" In the command.
    5. System configuration box appears. In the service tab selected "enable all and restarted.
    6. Everything works fine...
    Those steps are made completely without logging in to the pc (windows 10). I have not lost even a single file and everything remains.

    For reference- don't think it was mentioned- Note that were you to boot from a Win 10 bootable installation disk, then via Repair your computer, you can access the Advanced Startup options including System Restore.

    However, regard SR completing restoration successfully as a bonus -it's infamous for not doing so.

    This is why again and again and again the routine and regular use of disk imaging is recommended e.g. Macrium Reflect (free).

    Note that Regback (automatic backup of the registry) was disabled by MS at the end of 1709 but can be enabled (needed after each feature update- tutorial available.
