    I would think, if Windows 8.1 is already installed, they could do the free upgrade online, or just leave it for whoever buys the PC. My guess is they'll leave it be if it already has a Windows 8.1 COA sticker on it. Then tell the owner they can upgrade for free if they want, maybe even offer to do it for them. Just guessing of course.

    There is no turning in a license. If you own a license retail or OEM of any editions of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 then you are eligible for an upgrade to WIndows 10. Currently the only thing MS has talked about with Windows 10 is upgrades. They haven't mentioned new installs. You won't have to buy a Windows 10 license unless you have a PC with no OS (that includes Linux :), XP or Vista.

    That depends on how one looks at it. If you use your key from your old OS to upgrade you will not be able to legally run both OS's. Hopefully MS will allow anyone who doesn't like Windows 10 to go back to their old OS.
