I notice you basically completely ignored virtually everything I said and focused on one piece, with a long article which doesn't say what you think it does (or at least claim it does).
Here's the enlightening quote from that article:
Gates isn't doing much of anything... He's an advisor.. he's not calling any shots. He's not in control. He's the old fart in the corner that gives his input. It's not really clear just how involved Gates will be in shaping products. And given his track record of recent years it may not be the best role. Ted Schadler, an analyst with Forrester Research, thinks what Gates is really doing is helping to smooth the transition for the new CEO.
So quit trolling, and go somewhere else.
thank you all for the replies.
Yes I have seen many claims that Microsoft will give us free updates and sure hope that they continue that with the new OS. I am like a lot here I guess. I do like the new versions of Windows that have come out since the first version of windows (except Vista). Windows 7 was my favorite but it didn't take me long to get used to Windows 8.
cheers
I think that when I buy a new computer, or more-than-likely build one, I will have to purchase a copy of Windows 10. I am fine with that. It is free for the computers that I own now, but I can't expect it to be free for every device that I buy in the future. I live in America, I am a capitalist. I am fine with this scheme.
I didn't think of that. As long as the forums don't have more Trolls than Mordor has Orcs.

He is looking only to cause problems among the local population, and see if he can gain a few followers. . .sure hope he fines what he is looking for. . .
