how to transfer D: partition on C: drive of old pc to new D: HDD in ne

I am having a new pc build for me and would like to transfer all my data which is saved in the D: partition on C: drive of old pc running Windows 10 Home to new D: drive HDD in new pc running Windows 10 Home. The new D: drive in the new pc will be a separate HDD to the C: drive which will be an SSD.
Would appreciate instruction on how I can go about it if at all possible and be able to save the new data when I install my software in the new pc to the new HDD D: drive.

This is actually quite easy to do. Get a copy of Macrum Reflect free. You will need an external disk to back up the Old D: data. You then can use Macrum Reflect to make an image of the Old D:. Set it aside when it completes. When you get your new system, install Macrum Reflect free on it and then restore the Old D: data from the external disk to your new D: drive in you new system.

I would recommend that you don't install any software on the D: drive in you new system. Windows can support it, but its better if you install your software on the SSD. The performance on launching the programs will be at warp speed.

    Good luck

I wouldn't even bother with Macrium Reflect. Get an external drive, move anything you want to keep from the old computer to the external. Plug it in to the new computer, and copy it to D or wherever you want to store the data.

You could try out EaseUS Partition Master. It is a great alternative if you do not want to waste your time on move partition and data.

Thanks DeaconFrost, I think I will take your advice and copy and paste my data to an external drive and then to the new d drive on the new pc.
