Can't rotate photos imported from a flash card

In Windows 7, I would right click and a menu would pop up and allow me to permanently rotate a photo. In Windows 10, I right click and get the same menu. However, the photos won't rotate.

I wonder if the pictures have been imported as read only? The rotate options will be there but are greyed out until you uncheck the read only box in properties.

Thanks. I checked the properties and they are not read only. STRANGE: While I was checking the properties, I was able to rotate a few of the photos - then the ability to rotate stopped.

What method did you use to import the pictures?

Copy from the card directly to a Folder. I've been doing this the same way for years. I just tried it again and it worked for a few photos - then it stopped working. I think the problem is with Windows 10 on my computer. I plan to do a clean install soon and I'm sure this problem will cease. Thanks for the help.

You can use old "Windows Photo Viewer" for that.

I've just tested this on my Win 10 Laptop and the rotate option behaves in exactly the same way as in Win 7 and retains the rotation after rebooting. I think you might have a mouse problem. Try the rotate option using the touchpad! If that works as it should try a different mouse.

No - I believe a clean install will solve the problem. It'll probably be weeks before I can get to it. Thanks for asking.
