I donot hate W10, but I donot like it either.
I spent many hours for two PC's to let them run as smoothly with my favorite programmes as with W7.
At the end they run nicely under W10 with all settings at maximum privacy and with all my old programmes (and no new apps).
But I donot not see any advantage in W10 or hardly any new features, which are interesting for me. In fact, most of the many programmes I use are not of MS origin.
That would be 99.99% of the software out there that is not owned or licensed by Microsoft. 10 finally got the RAM hog issue that 7 had, along with better use of the APU/CPU/GPU than 7 was not able to do.

I have to agree with the OP...

I just spent over 20+ hours trying to get my Win 7 system upgraded. It had 10 once installed long ago so it was approved to accept the update. I dropped in an SSD to swap out my HHD, so this was essentially a clean install.

But what a nightmarish ordeal this turned into, it wouldn't install my network printer, it never recognized my WD MyCloud Drives (2x 4TBs), several of my softwares wouldn't run. I finally concluded the only good thing about 10, is perhaps DirectX 12, other than that, I truly believe it to be step backwards. I ended up reloading 8.0, to PRO to 8.1.. That is probably better for me anyway as gaming with Windows 8.1 has proven to be actually faster than 10. In my opinion, 8.1 is much more stable at this stage of the game..

Maybe in a couple of years from now, it will get all sorted out.

HP Wireless LaserJet P1102W, and HP Deskjet F4100 here, both are auto detected and the drivers installed by Windows. Everything works with no need for manual install of any HP supplied drivers.
Two long in the tooth desktop PC's, ASUS M4N68T-M V2 and an older M2N68-AM SE2. Both work with the current, stock Windows supplied drivers. Both are Windows 7 era hardware.

I've had glitches with upgrades. Those issues were gone on a clean install though.
You can switch back to IE if you wish, you don't have to use Edge, I don't.
You should be able to Roll Back to Windows 7. If your Windows.old really is empty it won't work. Otherwise it should be doable.
There are lots of examples of the Windows 10's look and feel on the Internet. Enough examples I think, that if you took the time to look, you would have seen what you were going to get.
If you don't like it you don't like it. It's not Windows 7 and never ever claimed to be.
If you want to try and sort some of your issues there are plenty of people here to help, just ask and we'll post tutorials etc.

I made a post in this thread - now missing. Please can some mod confirm if it was removed, and if so what the reason was.
If it's not allowed to write a post that's critical of Microsoft here, then I'm done with this forum.

    Hi:

This thread is devolving into a Hatfields and McCoys feud.
@dwtessie: Do you still need help with your HP 8900 AIO or your other issues?

    Thanks,
    MM

If you post content relevant to the thread content there shouldn't be an issue with negative comments. I've made some in the past dealing with things they did that I didn't like about Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.. In those instances my comments were on topic and short and to the point. Going on a long winded spiel that isn't relative to the issue at hand, won't go over very well with forum moderators. I only caught a glimpse of your post but from what I saw, I'm not surprised it was pulled.

Thanks for confirming that you saw the post - then I know that at least it got posted.

Well - the OP didn't appear to actually HAVE a specific issue, more a case of wanting to vent general frustrations with Microsoft which I share. So how can we divert from the topic when there wasn't one to begin with?

I suggested to him/her that it might be time to look at alternatives to Microsoft, as I myself had done.

I've found that I haven't actually had much help with problems in this forum.
Most of my threads receive some fairly generic advice and then I end up finding the solution myself and updating the thread and mark it closed.

This + how offended I am that my sincere comment got deleted without any explanation or notification means I'll not be using these forums in the future. What's the point of using a forum where you don't get help with your problems and your sincere and well-meaning posts get deleted with no explanation?

The OP actually posted several issues, lost files, a printer problem, and an issue in Edge. He did vent his frustrations, lots of people do. If he or she still wants help to try and sort them out I'll give it a shot.
There are "some" professionals here, and lots of enthusiasts with varying bits of knowledge. Even the professionals don't know everything about everything. We are all volunteers though.
We don't get paid for this and nobodies charging you for the support you get. It works both ways.
How much help you get can depend on what section you post in, what time of the day you post it, and the content of your post. Some things are easy to figure out, some not so much.
If you want an official reason why your post was deleted, PM a moderator. Did you check your inbox? The answer may already be there.

This thread did have an issue. That issue was Windows 10. He specifically said he was perfectly happy with Windows 7 and XP. It was not about Microsoft. You tried to divert the discussion to Linux and your conspiracy theories.

The OP has not responded since his original post. As tenuous as the thread already is, it will not turn into a Pros and Cons of Linux. Linux was never discussed before your post. You were completely off topic. There are other posts critical of Windows in this thread which were not removed.

There's nothin left that should be said on this topic. This thread will stay on topic.
