    After Clean Win 10 install, no longer move/save files to external HDD

    Hello All:

    I installed an Archer C2600 router and connected to one of its USB3 slots an external USB3 hard drive and thought I gave all users permission to read/write all files on the external HDD.

    Recently, I had to do a clean install of Windows 10 and since then, I have not been able to do the following:

    (1) start portable apps that are saved on the external HDD;

    (2) when downloading anything with a browser (usually Firefox, but also Edge and IE), I cannot save the downloaded file/executable/etc. straight to the external HDD; and

    (3) I cannot cut and paste files/folders from an internal HDD to the external HDD.

    Regarding No. 3, Explorer just continues to show 0% complete and when I go to cancel the transfer, the already open dialogue box indicates it is canceling, but never stops "Canceling[.]"

    Q: Can anyone help me trouble shoot what the problem might be?

    Thank you,
    edsager

    Update: I found and updated the firmware and until I restarted my computer (with Microsoft updates updating during the restart), all was working just fine. Sheesh.

    I have also tried to use TeraCopy but I keep getting the same error found in one of the above images: "The request is not supported."

    Thank you for your time,

    Alrighty. I am not sure what more I can do to troubleshoot this, so I guess I will have to get more creative.
