    Boot Error

My laptop with Win10 is not booting. After hanging for about a minute on the Boot Page (the first that appears after turning on) I get a page which keeps repeating the following message:

    Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v11.0.11
    Copyright (C) 2000-2000 Broadcom Corporation
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
    All rights reserved.
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.

I had the exact same issue 8 months ago. See this thread. However, when I now run chkdsk C: from installation media, I get the message ¨Cannot open volume for direct access

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Suggest you see if you can read your disk having booted from an external boot medium, whether a linux bootable disk or other boot disk or even a command prompt from your Win 10 disk.

Older boot disks that offered helpful utilities aren't UEFI compatible, last I looked. Hopefully there is one out there.

You could check its partition structure with Minitools bootable disk (partition manager).

Aim to check its SMART parameters.

Do you have disk image backups you could restore? This is a strongly recommended approach that helps avoid needing technical solutions.

Solved. Disk wasn't inserted properly... Been moving around with the laptop in my backpack a lot lately. Didn't have a proper screw driver to open hatch with at first, but I should have got one and checked first before posting! Sorry for wasting your time.

Great you found it. Disks don't normally move by themselves, though..usually fixed pretty well..maybe you were unlucky.
