I think you don't know what you're talking about when you decide where I've visited. I know enough to unclick unwanted apps; however, I don't use those apps simply because they attempt to install unwanted stuff. I know enough to go to the official site when downloading a particular program I want or need.

How many ways can you say we're so stupid we need to be protected from ourselves? Personally, I don't need that kind of help and neither do my clients.
well you know that , the other billion don't know

if bundling adware was not profitable and effective then cnet and other download site will not invest money on doing it (it's profitable because people install them without knowing about them)

this is the reality , there is no point in denying it.

you too speak for you self (notice that you used "we" as if you talk for all the windows users)
"This we" is intended to suffice for "me". As to speaking for all Windows users, yes, I think you could say that because you've already lumped us into one great big mass that needs protecting by locking down our computers so we're limited to what you think we should have. So, since you have lumped us into this great big mass of computer illiterates, yeah, I'm answering back and saying to you that it's not your right, nor is it Microsoft's to tell us how we can use our computers.

and BTW windows is not as safe and stable as ipad ios , on ipad you can't get fooled and install viruses or malware that looked like a program that you tried to download , I'm a windows power user that know how to protect his PC but the other 1 billion users don't know how and get fooled all the time , so why not should windows be safe for them ?
Oh, so now you're the only one who actually knows how to protect his PC, eh? Wow! All one billion of us just don't know how to protect our computers and we get fooled all the time, eh? Geeze, I bow to your superior knowledge! NOT

great , so can you next time when you see me use "we" assume that I meant the same things .

and no I didn't lump you one great big mass that needs protecting , I very clearly said normal users (and also said advanced users, and I let you choose which side you're on) my assumption is that most of this forum members are advanced users

and yes all of us need to be protected by having a safe OS (use windows XP if you think you don't need microsoft protection) , even sony got hacked and I'm sure their IT division know more than us .

it's microsoft duty to make a safe and stable OS (the same said about Google and Apple) , if they can create a safe store that contain most win32 and .Net apps then they should tell users that they created a safe place for apps and that there OS by default can only get safe apps , and if you're an advanced user they should give you the option of enabling other app sourced (just like android)

does that sound good to you ?

No, it does not! What you propose is to restrict those who are "normal" users and only allow advanced users to change the settings. What this does is to deny a whole segment of the computer using public their right to use their computer the way they wish.

It may be Microsoft's duty to create as safe an OS as they possibly can. Microsoft may include Win 32 programs in the Store, but it is not Microsoft's right to tell me that's the only place I may get programs. I will never agree to taking away someone's right to use his/her computer in exactly the way they wish.

Stick a fork in me. I'm done talking to someone who wants to take my rights away.

those normal users if they ever needed they can become advanced users , the option on the settings is their for all users (it's just advanced users who will need it and can enable it easily)

so windows the windows I want will be exactly like Android , and you don't have a problem with Android ,do you?

How would the store handle this situation (below version numbers are made up as I don't know the current)

I buy Photoshop 10 from the store and install it
A few months later Adobe release version 11, so the store only has version 11 in it

I need to do a re install, how do I get version 10 back ?, not interested in purchasing the latest version

Adobe said that it will release photoshop elements at the Windows 10 store , when a new version is released it's up to the developer to give it to all the current users or release it as a new app , the pro photoshop CC is already a continuously updated software that's subscription based .

I think big software like AutoCad will release every new version as a new app (I guess like the Fifa video games)

anyway , the short answer is I don't know.

If someone wants the security of a ipad they could always buy a ipad.

IMO MS does a good job of keeping Windows secure. Just look at all the security updates they release. It is not MS job to hold my hand and tell me what I can and can not install on my computer. Installing programs and apps is not the only way to infect a computer.Maybe MS should block all Windows computers from having internet access and allow Power Users the option to turn this feature on.

There is a much simpler solution.
Invest on and install Malwarebytes Premium. It will stop and block malicious websites and stop suspicious installations right away.

    Attachment 18561

Malicious websites will never open... ( I deliberately tried to open a "malicious" website just to show what will happen).

    Attachment 18562

    That's all you need. :)
good choice I bought it last year and it sure seems to be working just fine ,I don't download and install weird app as much as I once did so I'm not really sure how great the program is, but I do recommend it
